Dec 07, 2003 Snowy sightings - First Snow of the season 6-10 inches, almost none of the side streets were plowed. Saturday : Taylor - After digging out I went up to Taylor Two Cp units at rest. Nothing moving. Getting dark.25 degrees. Sunday : Duryea - Heard on the scanner the R&N dispatcher. Something was running to Techneglass, PILE was going up the mountain. Something was on its way back to Pittston from Mehoopany. A tran was going to switch the Keyser Valley Branch. Since I was in Duryea I thought I would go after the Kyser Valley job. I was at Mr. Z's and was putting washer fluid in my car when the train came by. A unit on the front and a unit on the back. Chasin' I followed the train thru Druyea and into Old Forge. I was shooting with a camera all the way, The roads were trcky in spots. Was gonna get set up and by the Old DL&W Station, but I did not know if there was anywere to park because of the snow. Also the road were I had to turn was all covered in snow and ice. So I headed on to Taylor. Taylor - Got to Taylor Yard and D11 was switching 5 units were in the train, including the D&H #7303 and a Red Barn unit.. These guys were switching the yard and made many moves. Eventually they finished up and the R&N was allowed on to the D&H and headed to the Keyser Valley Branch. Pitston Junction - On the way back, the caboose and two units sit in the cold setting sun. The train comming back from Mehoopany is sitting on the bridge. 23 degrees, wind blowing, very cold.
