The Pocono Northeast operated
a hodge-podge of lines cast off from CONRAIL in the early 80's. The
mainstay was the Wilkes-Barre Cluster.
The PNER ran over former Lehigh Valley, Lackawanna, Delaware and Hudson,
Central of New Jeresy and Erie trackage. It also ran over the West
Pittston and Exeter to serve the Celotex Plant. The line served the
area until it declared bankrupcy in the mid 1990's.
The L&S took over operation of the trackage after bankrupcy.
History repeated itslef as its Reading inspired scheme of the PNER
was replaced by the Reading and Northern. The R&N's green is a
little brighter that the PNER's shade of green was.
